Malayalam director Rosshan Andrews, who will make his Bollywood debut with Shahid Kapoor, has spoken out against false YouTube reviewers. He says that YouTube reviewers are attempting to extort money by threatening producers and that they should be barred from doing reviews outside of movie theatres.

During the marketing of his film, 'Saturday Night', director Rosshan Andrrews spoke to a Malayalam YouTube channel about film critiques. According to him, some reviewers are members of a "quotation gang." Saturday Night, Andrews' most recent picture, was released in November of this year and made mediocre business. It received an average rating from both film reviewers and the general public.

Anjali Menon, a director, recently made a similar comment about reviewers. She stated that before making comments, individuals should understand how films are created. Anjali remarked “When a critic is writing a review, you should know how a film is made. Their bosses should tell them to learn how to set up a film from Raj Kapoor, and editing from Hrishikesh Mukherjee. They should learn about the craft from these veterans. Most reviewers don’t even have background knowledge of how to review a film. I think it’s really important to understand how a film is made”.

The "Salute" director also slammed YouTube critics, telling the website that they 'gatecrash the theatre and solicit audience feedback.' Then there are some who have both positive and bad things to say about a movie. Some are blackmailing producers by showing them this.'

The "36 Vayadhinile" director also mentioned that theatre owners should prohibit YouTube reviewers from entering theatres and from soliciting crowd feedback during performances. According to him, individuals are hunting for cash on YouTube and massacring films for their subsistence.'

The director also said that constructive criticism should be used rather than personal assaults, as has recently occurred. Reviewers, he said, intimidated the makers of his flicks. "I have requested producer and theatre owner Antony Perumbavoor to prohibit such persons," Andrews stated.
