Malayalam director Joseph Manu James dies at 31 ahead the release of his directorial debut

Joseph Manu James died on February 24 at the age of 31 in a private hospital in Aluva, Kerala's Ernakulam. His funeral was held on February 26th at 3 p.m. in Ernakulam. He was admitted to the hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia, and died of hepatitis, according to the doctors. The filmmaker died before his directorial debut was released.


His untimely death shocked the Malayalam film industry. Actors Sreenivasan, Lal, Lena, and Indrans were among those who paid tribute to Manu James. Manu's death was mourned by actor Aju Varghese, who wrote, "Gone too soon brother." Ahaana Krishna wrote, "Manu, rest in peace! It should never have happened to you!"



Director Manu James died at Rajagiri hospital, where he was being treated for hepatitis on February 24 The filmmaker was laid to rest at the Major Archiepiscopal Marth Mariam Archdeacon Church in Kuravilangad on Sunday (February 26). He had recently finished filming for his first feature film, Nancy Rani, and post-production work is still ongoing. Among those who appear in the film are Ahaana Krishna, Sunny Wayne, Aju Varghese, and Arjun Ashokan.


As a child actor, Manu made his feature film debut in Sabu James' I am Curious. In 2004, the film was released in theatres. Years later, he worked as an assistant and co-director on numerous Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi films.
