Mahua Moitra plays football wearing saree, shares pictures

Mahua Moitra loves her beautiful sarees, but that doesn't stop her from enjoying a vigorous game of football.

The Trinamool Congress MP on Monday shared pictures of her kicking the ball around at the final of the Krishnanagar MP Cup Tournament. Moitra, dressed in an orange saree and sneakers, and with sunglasses on, is seen in the first picture unleashing a powerful rightfooter.

In the next picture, she is seen running to her right and bending low to gather the ball near the goalmouth.


“Fun moments from the final of the Krishnanagar MP Cup Tournament 2022. And yes, I play in saree,” the West Bengal MP wrote in her post on Twitter.
Among those who enjoyed watching Moitra's football skills was Sharmistha Mukherjee, politician and daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee. "Cool! Love the shot," she tweeted.

Many of her followers on Twitter praised her apparent football skills, others praised her cool quotient.
"Football & Saree are tough combination but you made it look easy," said one. Others asked whether she was playing both as striker and goal keeper.

This is not the first time the firebrand MP from Krishnanagar has been seen on the football field wearing a saree. Earlier, there were pictures of her playing football in a saree when the Trinamool Congress celebrated the Khela Hobey Dibas across the state.
