Mahesh Bhatt debunks rumors of having heart surgery, claims it is "technically incorrect"

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt recently underwent an angioplasty treatment and is already back at home.

On Friday morning, news spread that Mahesh Bhatt had undergone a heart surgery. However, he later refuted the claims and said he had undergone an angioplasty. Numerous reports stated that the filmmaker had heart surgery, but Bhatt insisted that it is "technically incorrect" to refer to the process as "surgery."

He stated that surgery involves the use of a knife, whereas angioplasty is a frequent procedure that takes 30 minutes, requires no blood, and does not require an overnight stay in the intensive care unit (ICU).


Bhatt also thanked the medical staff at the H.N. Reliance Hospital for handling his bloodless treatment, claiming that they were the finest of the best.

He disclosed that the treatment took place on January 16, and he arrived home on January 18. He also disclosed that he had been working on his next book since five in the morning.

Mahesh Bhatt said that he underwent the angioplasty as a preventative measure. He added that he had no indications that prompted him to perform this self-initiated action. He said that he was 74 years old and that as people age, their arteries do begin to calcify.

He went on to say that growing older is an unavoidable reality that is not optional but rather unavoidable.
