On Mahavir Jayanti, schools across several states, including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, are expected to remain closed on this day. Indore Collector Shivam Verma has declared a public holiday in the district on Monday, reported TOI. District administrations in several districts of Madhya Pradesh have revised the public holiday announced for Mahavir Jayanti and issued new dates. Now, the public holiday in these districts will be on Monday, March 30, 2026, instead of Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
The Karnataka government advanced by a day the public holiday date for Mahavir Jayanti. As per an official notification issued Thursday, the holiday — earlier scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 — will now be observed on Monday, March 30.
