Pune temperature to touch 42 degrees soon
Pune experienced its hottest day of the season on Saturday, with Shivajinagar reaching 39°C and Lohegaon hitting 40.6°C, the IMD data showed. An IMD official told Times of India that temperatures in Pune are expected to rise in the coming days. "Our latest forecast indicates a continued increase in maximum temperatures, with areas like Lohegaon and Koregaon Park likely to touch 42°C, while Shivajinagar may reach around 41°C. Minimum temperatures are also expected to remain high, ranging between 21°C and 26°C across the city," the official said.ALSO READ: Who is Romi Bhinder?
Several other parts of Pune also experienced intense heat on Saturday. Koregaon Park recorded 39.2°C, while Magarpatta and Chinchwad saw maximum temperatures of 38.6°C each. An expert from Vagaries of Weather told TOI, "In line with the IMD forecast, Pune has seen a rise of 4.8°C over the past two days. Shivajinagar recorded 39°C on Saturday, making it the hottest day of the season so far," the expert said.
IMD's local forecast also indicated no respite from the heat, with maximum temperatures expected to continue rising. There is no rainfall predicted for Pune or most parts of Maharashtra over the next week, suggesting prolonged dry and hot conditions.
Akola recorded 42 degrees Celsius
On Saturday, temperatures soared past 42 degrees Celsius in Akola in Vidarbha, making it the hottest place in Maharashtra as well as several parts of neighbouring Madhya Pradesh. the IMD said. A few days ago, a western disturbance brought temporary relief, pulling the mercury down to around 34-35°C and offering some respite to residents.Rest of Vidarbha also saw a sharp rise in temperatures, signalling intensifying summer conditions. According to observations recorded on Saturday, Akola was closely followed by Amravati at 41.2°C and Yavatmal at 40.2°C. Several other districts, including Wardha (40.5°C), Buldhana (40°C) and Chandrapur (39.8°C), also reported temperatures hovering around the 40°C mark. The weather dept has indicated that temperatures are likely to go up in the coming days due to clear sky conditions.
