Amid the ongoing Indigo crisis, Central Railway zone has temporarily suspended the sale of platform tickets at 13 major railway stations including Mumbai. With the Mahaparinirvan Diwas 2025 celebrations going, the Centre has decided to put some restrictions on the sale of platform tickets at 13 major stations from December 5 to 7, 2025. The move is aimed at ensuring smooth passenger movement and safe boarding and de-boarding at busy stations on account of Mahaparinirvan Diwas his year.

Platform sales ticket suspended

According to a report in Indian Express, the restriction on platform ticket sales will remain in effect from December 5 to December 7, 2025. According to Railway Board guidelines, the platform tickets will, however, be issued to senior citizens, ailing passengers, children and lady passengers who need assistance. The temporary suspension of the platform tickets by the Central Railway (CR) zone also includes two major stations in the Mumbai area and overall, this will be effective at 13 major railway stations.

Mumbai Division: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Dadar station (December 5-7, 2025)

Bhusaval Division: Bhusaval, Nashik Road, Manmad, Jalgaon, Akola, Shegaon, Pachora, Badnera, Malkapur, Chalisgaon (December 5-6, 2025)

Nagpur Division: Nagpur station (December 5-6, 2025)

Dr. Swapnil Nila, Chief Public Relations Officer, Central Railway told the Indian Express: “Central Railway has imposed temporary restriction on sale of platform tickets at 13 major stations in anticipation of heavy rush of followers travelling on account of Mahaparinirvan Diwas.

"Persons accompanying Aged persons, Senior Citizens, Ailing persons, Children, Illiterate persons & lady passengers unable to fend for themselves are exempted from these restrictions to ensure ease of travel," he added. He also requested the passengers to plan accordingly and adhere to the new regulations for a smooth and safe travel experience
