Madhuri Dixit lives in a luxurious 5,500-sq-ft Mumbai home with husband Shriram Nene featuring M.F. Husain paintings, private theatre, music room, smart lighting and Arabian sea views

Madhuri Dixit’s Mumbai home is a stylish yet warm reflection of her personality, combining contemporary interiors with art, music and technology. Located on the 53rd floor of a high-rise, the 5,500-square-foot sea-facing apartment offers sweeping views of the Arabian Sea and Mumbai skyline.

Shared by Madhuri and her husband, Dr Shriram Madhav Nene, the home was designed by architect Apoorva Shroff as a calm and comfortable family space. Its neutral colour palette, clean lines and carefully selected furniture give the residence a sophisticated yet understated look.

A Contemporary Home With A Minimalist Touch

According to Architectural Digest, Madhuri and Dr Nene wanted a contemporary home with a minimalist feel. Their brief focused on straight lines, clean forms and a restrained colour palette.

Shroff used neutral interiors to create a calm backdrop for the couple’s artwork and personal collections. Madhuri describes the home as “uncluttered” and dominated by straight lines, while Shroff says the design was intended to create an atmosphere of “calm, clarity, and comfort.”

M.F. Husain’s Art Takes Centre Stage

One of the most distinctive features of the apartment is its collection of artworks by celebrated Indian modernist M.F. Husain. The artist shared a special bond with Madhuri and created several paintings exclusively for her.

Husain’s works also influenced the home’s overall colour scheme and visual style. The entrance foyer features his Ganesha paintings, immediately bringing art into focus.

Madhuri recalls that Husain once wanted to paint directly on the walls of her home, but she declined as the family might eventually move. Instead, he created paintings for her.

“I just love the colours he used; it pops out,” Madhuri says of Husain’s work.

Husain affectionately called Madhuri “Mad Huri”, a playful reference to a fairy or princess in Urdu.

Technology Blends Into The Interiors

Technology is another major element of the home’s design. Dr Nene, a self-described technophile, envisioned the apartment as a “fortress of solitude” where the family could enjoy their interests.

The home features sophisticated automation, while its lighting was sourced from Delta Light and designed to complement the artwork. Technology has been integrated into the interiors without taking away from the home's calm, elegant appearance.

Home Theatre And Dedicated Music Room

The apartment also has several spaces designed around the family’s love for entertainment and music.

A large projector and modern speakers create a home-theatre experience, while a dedicated music room houses guitars, drums and a piano. The residence also features a Steinway piano.

A fully automated bar and gourmet kitchen add to the home’s entertainment spaces, with Dr Nene describing the kitchen as “the bones of the house”, a place where the family can cook, share recipes and spend time together.

Sea Views Add To The Home’s Appeal

Despite its modern design and extensive use of technology, the apartment maintains a warm and relaxed atmosphere.

Large windows open up views of the Arabian Sea and Mumbai skyline, allowing the cityscape to become part of the interiors. The combination of natural views, artwork, lighting and furniture gives the home a distinctly personal feel.

Madhuri Dixit Says Family Was Her Dream

Beyond its luxurious interiors and impressive artwork, the apartment is primarily a family home for Madhuri.

The actor has often spoken about the importance of family and described having a husband, children and a comfortable home as one of her lifelong dreams.

“I've always wanted a family. That was my dream: to have a husband, kids, and a house where you feel comfortable, cosy and loved.”

Madhuri Dixit’s Work Front

Madhuri Dixit continues to be active in films and television. Her latest film, Maa Behen, directed by Suresh Triveni, released in June 2026 marked her return to comedy after a gap.

She is also set to host the Marathi quiz show Kon Honar Crorepati, marking her debut as the host of the popular franchise.
