In a bizarre and unexpectedly humorous turn of events, a constable from Uttar Pradesh’s Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) has blamed his wife for his disciplinary lapses. His response to an official notice, where he claims his wife gives him terrifying nightmares, has now gone viral, leaving the internet in splits.

The constable, posted in Meerut, was issued a disciplinary notice on 17 February for neglecting his duties. His alleged offences included turning up late for a morning briefing, improper grooming, and missing unit activities—serious violations of discipline. However, his reply took an unusual route, stating that he suffers from chronic sleep deprivation due to his troubled marriage.

He dramatically described how his wife appears in his dreams, "sitting on my chest and trying to drink my blood with the intent to kill me." This, he claimed, keeps him awake at night, leaving him exhausted and causing him to report late for duty.

Emotional Appeal and Investigation Ordered

In his letter, the constable added that he is under medication for depression and irritability. He also mentioned that his mother is suffering from a nerve disorder, further contributing to his distress.

The situation took an even more emotional turn when he concluded his response by saying he has lost the will to live and "wishes to surrender himself to God's feet," pleading with his superiors to show him the path to spiritual salvation.

With the letter gaining traction on social media, authorities have now launched an inquiry into the matter. Sachindra Patel, Commandant of the 44th Battalion PAC, confirmed that officials are verifying the constable’s identity, the authenticity of the response, and how the letter leaked online.

Official Action and Social Media Reactions

While the PAC is taking the matter seriously, netizens have been left amused by the absurdity of the excuse. Many social media users have called it the “most creative reason for being late to work,” while others have joked about the potential supernatural elements at play.

Meanwhile, authorities are also investigating how the letter was circulated online, raising questions about privacy and internal communication within the force.
