Lionel Messi in Delhi: Traffic advisory issued around Arun Jaitley Stadium. Check routes to avoid, parking advisory and more

Argentina football star Lionel Messi will fly from Mumbai to Delhi on a chartered flight and is expected to arrive around 12:30 PM. This is his third and final day in India as part of the 'GOAT' tour and he will also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital today. Ahead of Messi's arrival in the national capital, Delhi Police have issued a traffic advisory for areas around Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Messi in Delhi: Traffic advisory issued

In its advisory issued on Sunday, cops said traffic movement is expected to remain slow / affected in and around Arun Jaitley stadium due to traffic regulations and spectator movement. Delhi traffic police have stated diversions will be in place on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg. The advisory further added that "no heavy vehicles allowed from Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road."

In its post on X, the traffic police further called on residents to avoid JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg due to heavy movement for the Argentine footballer's tour.



Check stretches to avoid (12 noon to 5 pm)

-JLN Marg (Rajghat to Delhi Gate up to R/A Kamla Market – both carriageways)

-Asaf Ali Road (Turkman Gate to Delhi Gate)

-Bahadurshah Zafar Marg (Delhi Gate to Ramcharan Aggarwal Chowk / ITO – both carriageways)

-Traffic diversion/restriction on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and JLN Marg

-No heavy vehicles allowed from Daryaganj to Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and from Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road

Parking and general advisory

-Free parking available at Mata Sundari Road, Rajghat Power House Road and Velodrome Road

-Parking near stadium is restricted to labeled vehicles only

-Display parking label clearly with vehicle number and contact details

-Entry to labeled parking via Vikram Nagar cut on BSZ Marg near Shahidi Park only

-No parking on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, or Ring Road (Rajghat to I.P. Flyover)

-Illegally parked vehicles will be towed and prosecuted

-App-based taxi pick & drop points at MA Medical College (Gate No. 2, BSZ Marg) and Rajghat Chowk

The main event for Messi's Delhi tour will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. During this, Messi will felicitate Minerva Academy’s teams, which have won three youth trophies. Furthermore, Delhi police have also shared the entry and exit points for fans who have bought tickets to see the football icon.
