Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood legend, has recalled his mother Teji Bachchan on her death anniversary, saying the moments of her departure would always be engraved in his thoughts.

Amitabh Bachchan remembered his late mother Teji Bachchan on the 15th anniversary of her death on Wednesday. The actor wrote about his mother's dying moments on his blog, recalling how the entire family had gathered at the hospital to be with her as she died.

He wrote in his blog as he recalled his 'amma ji', whom he described as 'the most beautiful mother on the entire planet'. "We stood holding hands, all of us close and dear.. the nieces and children in tears.. till.. I spoke out.. leave it doc.. leave her.. she wants to go.. stop.. do not make any more attempts.. each effort was hard for her system and difficult for us to behold.. each time that straight line would come.. and then change to the graphic responses of the pumping stop it I said”.

As he laid a gentle touch on her forehead, a “million memories” rushed through his thoughts. He wrote afterwards "The hall at Prateeksha was made stark, scrubbed, and washed. Her image, her lovely face, between a few white flowers. As he laid next to her, her nieces arrived and chanted the Granth Sahib Shabd all night”.

Teji Bachchan was a teacher and a social activist. In 2007, she was taken to the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai for many months before her condition deteriorated. She passed away on December 21st, at the age of 93.
