An Odisha-based renowned sand artist, Sudarsan Pattnaik, has created an artwork in commemoration of Lata Mangeshkar's first death anniversary. At Puri beach in Odisha, he made a 6-foot-tall sand sculpture bearing the phrase, "Tribute to Bharat Ratna Lata Ji, Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai."

Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 at the age of 92, last year at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.

Fondly called Lata di, Mangeshkar is renowned for her melodic voice, adaptability, and ability to sing in a range of languages and musical genres. Along with Hindi, she has also recorded songs in Marathi, Bengali, and Gujarati, as well as other regional Indian languages.


The Queen of Melody was as soulful as a nightingale, and her powerful voice helped move the entire country. Her voice has been a distinguishing element of Indian cinema for more than seven decades. She has performed some of the most well-known and enduring melodies in the chronicles of Indian film music.

Mangeshkar has worked with several of the most well-known music producers and composers of her day, including Naushad, S. D. Burman, and R. D. Burman, among others.

Throughout the course of her career, she has gained a great deal of recognition for her contributions to Indian music. She won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 1974, Padma Vibhushan in 1989, and Bharat Ratna in 2001 for her remarkable contributions to the music industry.
