Being laid off can be a stressful experience, but one employee found the situation even more frustrating after being asked to return to the office during their notice period. The employee questioned whether physically reporting to work was necessary when their primary responsibility was training other team members.

Employee Asks HR To Continue WFH During Notice Period

The employee shared the situation on Reddit in a post titled “I got laid off serving notice period, don’t wanna go office anymore, should I negotiate WFH futher if HR say no?"

According to the post, the discussion began after HR asked the employee to start working from the office to make the KT process easier.



However, the employee pointed out that the KT sessions were already being conducted online through Google Meet.

“But ma’am KT to mai vaise bhi google meet pe deta hu office aake bhi," he said.

The employee then requested permission to continue working from home until their final working day.

“So I wanted to request if I can continue WFH until my last working day."

HR, however, gave a brief response: “No."

Employee Explains Why Office Attendance Is Not Needed

Rather than accepting the response immediately, the employee explained that there was no clear operational reason for them to be physically present at the workplace since they were already serving their notice period and were primarily responsible for KT.

“I don’t see any operational requirement for me to be physically present in the office. The KT is happening through Google Meet and I am not using any office equipment," they said.
