Laid-off 8-month pregnant Google employee shares her heartbreaking ordeal on LinkedIn
A Google employee, who is eight months pregnant, has shared an emotional tale of how she handled discovering that she is one of the 12,000 people the firm has laid off.

However, Google's recent plan to lay off 12,000 employees globally to save expenses recently shook the globe. Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google's parent company, Alphabet, just announced the layoffs and accepted "full responsibility" for them.
As soon as the information spread, affected employees started getting emails about it and starting to discuss their experiences on social media. One of them is Katherine Wong, a program manager, who was fired by Google just before going on maternity leave.
The program manager at Google in California was shocked to hear the news because she had gotten positive performance reviews. She posted on LinkedIn about her disbelief at being one of the 12,000 employees affected by the mass layoff. She expressed how it made her heart sink.
She added that while it was challenging to swallow, she had to control her negative feelings for the benefit of her unborn child. She stated that her emotions were so mixed that she was unable to control her "shaky hands."
Wong described how, after hearing of the layoffs, she was bombarded with calls and texts from her coworkers. She said that she will now concentrate on completing her pregnancy and getting ready to welcome her child. Katherine ended the post on a sad note by saying that while she would like to start looking for a career, she won't be able to do so since she needs to put her pregnancy and unborn child first.
