Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's latest release - Laal Singh Chaddha - looks to have opened very quietly, with Boxiofficeindia reporting a 15-20 percent occupancy for the film.

The Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer is a remake of the critically acclaimed Tom Hanks classic, 'Forrest Gump.' A Raksha Bandhan release, the film looks to have starting trouble, with ‘Ek Villain Returns’ fetching better numbers from the Uttar Pradesh and Bihar markets on its opening day.

Khan's film raked in about Rs 10 crore in pre-bookings and is likely to rake in opening day collections in double digits.

The remake also stars South Indian actor Naga Chaitanya in a prominent role.

Having acted in and produced the movie, Aamir Khan isn't looking to send the film to the small screen anytime soon, with a six month window likely to be maintained.

“One of the reasons primarily I think the curiosity of going to theaters has reduced because films come on OTT right after they come in theaters," the veteran actor was quoted as saying.
