Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid star, faces rape allegations at Swedish hotel? Report makes shocking claim

Real Madrid and France soccer star Kylian Mbappe has been accused of rape and sexual harassment at a Swedish hotel, as per local media reports. A Swedish prosecutor has opened a rape investigation after media reports suggested that Kylian Mbappe is the suspect. Swedish newspapers Aftonbladet and Expressen, along with broadcaster SVT, reported that the 25-year-old footballer is under suspicion following his recent two-day visit to Stockholm.

"In response to media reports about a suspected rape in Stockholm, the prosecutor can confirm that a criminal report has been submitted to the police," Sweden's Prosecution Authority said in a statement.

It added that the alleged incident occurred at a hotel on October 10, but did not name a suspect and said no further information could be shared for the moment.


Expressen on Monday identified Kylian Mbappe as the suspect, citing anonymous sources, while Aftonbladet and SVT said Tuesday they had also had obtained information confirming Mbappe was the suspect.

Mbappe's team, contacted by AFP, stated they were unaware of any legal complaint against him.

Mbappe, not involved in France's latest Nations League matches, visited Stockholm with a group of people. As per local media reports, the alleged rape took place on Thursday. Mbappe had earlier that night visited the Chez Jolie restaurant, before heading to the V nightclub and finally back to his hotel in a black van with his entourage. Mbappe and the group left the place on Friday. According to Aftonbladet, the complaint was filed after the alleged victim sought medical attention.

What evidence did the cops seize?

Expressen reported that police seized clothing as evidence, including women's underwear and black trousers and top.

Mbappe addressed the situation on the social media platform X, calling the Aftonbladet report "FAKE NEWS !!!!," linking its timing to a hearing over his wage dispute with former club Paris Saint-Germain.

A source close to Paris Saint-Germain told AFP they would "ignore" Mbappe's insinuations about any connection between the report and his wage dispute.

Mbappe's entourage said in a statement sent to AFP: "Today, a new slanderous rumour is starting to spread across the web from the Swedish media Aftonbladet. "These accusations are completely false and irresponsible, and their propagation is unacceptable.

"In order to put an end to this methodical destruction of (the) image (of Kylian Mbappe), all necessary legal action will be taken to re-establish the truth and pursue any person or media involved in the moral harassment and defamatory treatment that Kylian Mbappe is suffering repeatedly," the statement added.
