Jaya Bachchan, the veteran actress and Samajwadi Party MP, is well known for fiercely protecting her privacy. Videos of her scolding paparazzi or people clicking pictures without permission have often gone viral on the internet. Recently, another clip surfaced showing her expressing displeasure at a man trying to take a selfie with her, and this too quickly took social media by storm.

The video, shared by ANI’s official account, shows Jaya Bachchan walking towards the Constitutional Club of India when a man leans in to click a selfie. The actress, visibly annoyed, pushes him away and asks sharply, “Kya kar rahe hai aap? What is this?” The people around appear silent and shocked at her reaction.

The video sparked varied reactions online. While some applauded Jaya for standing up for her personal space and consent, others expressed disappointment at the way she handled the situation. Many viewers reminded the man about the importance of seeking consent before taking photos.

Jaya Bachchan is no stranger to making headlines for her bold opinions. In the Rajya Sabha, she recently created a stir by questioning the government’s choice to name their retaliatory mission after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack as ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Starting with condolences to the victims’ families, she criticised the naming, asking, “You come up with these grand names. But why ‘Sindoor’? Sindoor toh ujad gaya (the sindoor was wiped away). What about the wives whose husbands were gunned down in front of them?”

Her remarks drew sharp responses from BJP members, accusing her of undermining the operation’s significance. When some MPs tried to interrupt, Jaya firmly responded, “Either you speak or I will. When you speak, I don’t interrupt. When a woman speaks, I never interrupt. Please mind your tongue.”

Even her fellow Opposition MP Priyanka Chaturvedi of Shiv Sena (UBT), sitting beside her, attempted to calm her, but Jaya snapped, “Priyanka, don’t control me.” Chaturvedi smiled but did not insist further.
