Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad with his family during the Uttarayan festival. A video of a light moment between Shah and his son, Jay Shah, the new ICC Chairman, went viral. During the temple’s aarti ceremony, Amit Shah was seen performing the rituals and passing the sacred flame near Jay Shah’s child. Jay Shah instinctively shielded his son from the flames, prompting Amit Shah to remark in Gujarati, "Kassu nai thay, tare kai novo navay no chokro che," which translates to, "Nothing will happen; do you have a new and unique son?" The comment was captured in a video shared widely on social media, sparking varied reactions.

Social Media Reacts

Social media users were quick to share their thoughts on the interaction. One user remarked, “Typical Indian Father… zaapne main second nahi legate.” Another commented, "Har ghar ki yahi kahani, baap ke saamne bete ki kooi izzat nhi chahe beta kitna bhi bada aadmi kyun an ban jaye (This is the story of every household; a father never gives respect to his son in front of others, no matter how successful the son becomes).

Jay Shah’s Recent Achievements

Jay Shah was recently honored at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Special General Meeting after becoming the youngest ICC chairman. Serving as BCCI Secretary since October 2019 and as Chairman of the Asian Cricket Council since 2021, Shah has played a pivotal role in Indian cricket administration.

Changes in BCCI Leadership

In a recent shuffle, Devajit Saikia replaced Jay Shah as BCCI Secretary. A former first-class cricketer from Assam, Saikia was elected unopposed. Prabhtej Singh Bhatia took over as BCCI Treasurer, following Ashish Shelar’s election as an MLA in Maharashtra.

BCCI President Roger Binny expressed confidence in the new leadership, stating, "Their proven administrative acumen and deep understanding of financial operations will help us reach new heights in both governance and financial management. I also thank our State Associations for their unanimous support and shared vision for Indian Cricket."
