Kriti Sanon hits back at Kangana Ranaut over Raksha Bandhan Ad controversy, says ‘when will we stop telling women what to wear?’

Kriti Sanon’s jewellery advertisement, released ahead of Raksha Bandhan, has sparked discussion online over her choice of outfit. The actor is seen wearing an Indo-Western ensemble featuring a bralette-inspired blouse, cape and draped skirt. The styling received criticism from some social media users, who felt that the outfit did not suit an advertisement based on Raksha Bandhan, a festival that celebrates the bond between siblings.

Kangana Ranaut Questions Kriti’s Styling

Amid the online debate, Kangana Ranaut joined the conversation through an Instagram Story on Monday evening. She questioned the styling used in the jewellery advertisement and shared her views on the outfit.

“It's a wonderful time to be a woman. Our closets are full of variety of clothes, today's woman is a global woman. From cocktail dresses to lehenga cholis, jeans to saris, bikinis to salwar kameez, from all the options that are available to us today why would you tie your brother a rakhi in your bikini/undergarments? Where are all your styling options? Ha ha the advert looks intentionally creepy!” she wrote.

Kriti Sanon Responds on Instagram

Kriti Sanon has now responded to the criticism through her Instagram Story. Her reply comes after the advertisement and Kangana’s comments became a topic of discussion on social media.

Rakshabandhan is a bond of protection.
My sister and I tie rakhi to each other.
We know we can protect each other no less than a brother would have.
We pray for each other’s health, happiness & long life.
And for us, this prayer and promise extends to our dogs too!
Afterall, they are family! ❤️

Also, when will we stop telling women what to wear??
