Kolkata: Man falls from 7th floor of hospital, gravely injured
A patient escaped from his room and later jumped from the seventh floor of the Institute of Neuroscience Hospital in Kolkata on Saturday.

The patient’s name is Sujit Adhikary, who had reportedly sneaked out to the 7th floor cornice through a glass window in the ward where he was getting treatment.
In an attempt to bring him down, the fire brigade had been called for help to the scene. The police and hospital staff along with the fire brigade team tried to coax him out of the dangerous situation. But, he reportedly threatened to jump off the seventh floor when a hydraulic ladder was being used to get him down.

— ANI (@ANI) 1656142024000He later fell off the seventh floor, and was critically injured as he hit several cornices of floors below before hitting the ground. His family broke down on seeing him fall despite sincere efforts by hospital staff, fire brigade, police, bystanders and the hospital staff to bring him down.
He fell off at around 1:10 pm, police said. He was “very very critically injured" and his skull, rib cage and left hand were badly damaged, a hospital official said.
