Kolkata Airport Flight Status: Check latest updates as heavy rain disrupts air travel, SpiceJet issues delay advisory

Kolkata woke up to overcast skies and steady showers on Friday as the monsoon strengthened its hold over South Bengal. Several low-lying areas have already begun to experience waterlogging, and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that rainfall is likely to intensify as the day progresses, with the wet spell expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week. Continuous showers led to waterlogging in Kolkata, affecting traffic movement during the morning rush.

The wet weather also prompted airlines to issue travel advisories, warning passengers about possible delays to flight operations.


"#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Kolkata (CCU), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status.", Spicejet said in a post.

South Bengal: Areas Likely to Receive Heavy Rain

The IMD has issued a widespread alert for South Bengal, highlighting several districts that are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coming days. These include Kolkata, South 24 Parganas, East Midnapore, Howrah, Hooghly (which may experience the most intense showers on Friday), Nadia, Murshidabad, Birbhum, and both East and West Burdwan (Bardhaman).

Kolkata is experiencing overcast skies with steady rainfall as the monsoon continues to stay active over the region. Intermittent showers and thunderstorms are likely throughout the day, with occasional intense spells accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 km/h in some areas. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 28°C and 30°C, while the night temperature may dip to around 26°C, keeping conditions humid and wet. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued an alert, warning of thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in parts of the city and adjoining districts.
