KM Mani Jr, son of Kerala Congress (M) leader Jose K Mani arrested after car accident kills two people

Kerala Congress-Mani chairman and Rajya Sabha MP Jose K Mani's son, KM Mani Jr was arrested in Kerala following an automobile accident that resulted in the death of two individuals according to reports. The victims were siblings who hailed from the Kottayam district.

The accident reportedly happened on the Muvattupuzha-Punalur road near the BSNL office in Kottayam district's Manimala on Saturday night. The two people who died in the incident were identified as Manimala-natives Mathew John (35) and Jins John (30).

The victims were travelling to Manimala from Ranni when the incident happened. The accident happened when the Toyota Innova with the registration number KL-07-CC-1717 in which KM Mani Jr, applied a sudden break, News 18 Malayalam said in a report. KM Mani Jr alias Kunjumani, the grandson of former finance minister KM Mani (late), was behind the wheel when the accident was caused.


The victims were riding a two-wheeler and the vehicle rammed into the car from behind when the sudden break was applied. While the brothers were rushed to the nearby Kottayam Medical College, they did not survive the accident.

Kunjumani was later released on bail. The owner of the car was identified as Pala-native Xavier Mathew, the report added.
