Khushdil Shah tagged 'parchi' by Pak fans, Imam-ul-Haq reacts strongly

England ended their first tour to Pakistan in 17 years with a 4-3 series win after they crushed the hosts by 67 runs in the their Twenty20 decider.

Chasing 210 to win, Pakistan were effectively out of the match once the prolific opening pair of captain Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan departed within the first two overs. They eventually finished on 142-8.

Irate Pak fans targeted the team for their dismal show, and one of those who came under attack was middle order batter Khushdil Shah.


In a video going around on social media, angry fans at the stadium could he heard chanting “parchi parchi” while Shah was returning to the pavilion after getting out.

Parchi, a Urdu word which literally means receipt, is used to connote that the player made it to them team not on merit but on the strength of recommendations.

Shah was dismissed for 27 off 25 balls and in the series overall he totalled just 63 runs.

But Shah's team mate Imam ul Haq rushed to his defence requesting fans not to use such words for crickeeters who play for their country.

"I would like to request our fans to avoid such rants at any player as it can badly impact the player’s health and try to support them like you always do, regardless of the results. We play for YOU, we play for PAKISTAN Stay blessed," he tweeted.
