KGF actor Krishna G Rao passes away at 70

Veteran Kannada actor Krishna G Rao passed away on Wednesday. The 70-year-old actor was admitted to a private hospital near Sita Circle in Bangalore a few days ago, where he succumbed to age-related illnesses. According to media reports, Rao was rushed to Vinayak Hospital after he collapsed while at a relative’s house, where he was admitted to the ICU.

Krishna G Rao shot to fame after ‘KGF: Chapter 1’, in which he played the role of a blind man. In fact, the scene in which Rao played a prominent part was the film's turning point and instantly became one of the most watched KGF scenes. However, the actor had been active in cinema for decades as an actor and assistant director.

Rao was shooting for his upcoming ‘Nano Naryanappa’, in which he was playing the lead role. The movie's trailer was released on September 21 and is expected to be released early next year. The movie also features Ananthu Padmanabha, Prashanth Siddi, and Apoorva in important roles.


Reports suggested that Rao complained of difficulty in breathing before he collapsed and was treated for a respiratory tract ailment at the hospital. Following his death, the official handle of the KGF franchise share condolence on Twitter and added that Rao was fondly remembered as “Thatha” by KGF fans. ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ actress Raveena Tandon also sent condolences to Rao’s family on Twitter.
