Kerala couple narrowly escapes tragedy after car falls into well; What happened is nothing short of a miracle

A young couple had a miraculous escape after their car fell into a 15-foot deep well near Pattimattom, according to police reports. The incident took place on Friday night after 9 PM. As per a PTI report, an officer from the Pattimattom fire station stated that the couple was unaware of a depression in the road. When their vehicle hit this dip, it lost control, collided with a nearby shop, and subsequently fell into the adjacent well.

The officer noted that the couple was likely driving at a high speed and using Google Maps, as the app was still running on their phone when the car was retrieved from the well. These factors may have contributed to the accident.

Fortunately, the well was mostly empty, allowing the couple to escape through the rear doors of the car and stand safely inside the well while waiting for help. “If the well had been full of water, the situation could have been much more serious,” the officer added.


Rescue workers dropped a ladder into the well, which the couple used to climb to safety. Thankfully, they sustained only minor scrapes and did not suffer any major injuries.
