UP School Principal Viral Video: Hardoi Incident Sparks Debate Over Fees, Behaviour and Accountability
A school principal in Uttar Pradesh has found herself at the centre of a social media storm after a video showing her shouting at parents went viral online.

The incident took place at Sunbeam School Hardoi, where principal Mamta Mishra was seen losing her temper and telling parents to “shut up” and “get lost”. The clip, widely circulated on X, triggered sharp reactions, with many users criticising her conduct.

Hardoi school viral video: What exactly happened?

The video shows Mishra arguing with a group of parents who had reportedly approached her regarding school fees. At one point, she is heard saying, “Strike their kids’ names from the register,” while accusing the parents of creating “drama”.

The parents in the clip appear to stand their ground, though their responses are not clearly audible.

As the video gained traction online, criticism poured in, with users questioning the principal’s behaviour and calling for action.

One user on X wrote, “She should be arrested for defaming and mental torture of parents in her school,” while another commented that the principal’s language was unacceptable for someone in her position.

Principal Mamta Mishra responds: ‘Nobody knows why I reacted’

Facing backlash, Mamta Mishra later released a video statement explaining her side of the story.

“There’s a video doing the rounds on social media now, recorded at Sunbeam School, in which I have used inappropriate language for which I have been called a lot of names and shamed. But nobody knows why I reacted the way I did,” she said.

Mishra admitted that her language in the video was inappropriate but insisted that there was more context behind the incident.

Fee dispute at the centre of the controversy

According to Mishra, the parents seen in the video had already been given a fee concession earlier.

She claimed they had initially requested a reduction in fees for one child, which the school had agreed to. However, after enrolling a second child, they allegedly returned with a similar request.

“They came on a day when we were carrying out vaccinations for children,” she explained, adding that the parents were aware of the schedule.

‘They wouldn’t leave me alone’: Principal cites pressure during vaccination drive

Mishra said the situation escalated because the parents continued pressing the issue despite being asked to come back later.

“My entire focus was on the kids on the vaccination day, and I had told these parents multiple times, even in my office, that we can discuss this later, but for three hours, they would not leave me alone,” she said.

She also pointed out the responsibility she held during the vaccination drive.

“If anything had gone wrong with the vaccinations, the parents would have held me accountable, wouldn’t they?” she added.

‘I have helped many students’: Principal defends track record

Defending her actions further, Mishra said she has a history of supporting students from financially weaker backgrounds.

“I have, on several occasions, reduced school fees of poor children and have even waived it off for those who could not afford it,” she said.

While acknowledging her lapse in behaviour, she suggested that the pressure of the situation contributed to her reaction.

Social media reaction: Outrage, debate and divided opinion

The incident has sparked a wider debate online about the pressures faced by school administrators and the expectations of parents.

While many users criticised the principal’s tone and conduct, others pointed out the challenges schools face when dealing with repeated fee disputes and operational pressures.

The viral clip continues to circulate, with discussions on X reflecting a mix of outrage, sympathy and calls for accountability on both sides.
