Kensington Palace has released the first official photo of Princess Kate, 42, on social media. The princess, who underwent abdominal surgery and has been recovering at home since January 29, was pictured sitting with her three children, George, Charlotte, and Louis, in a garden chair at their home in Windsor. The photo, taken by her husband Prince William, shows her in jeans, a sweater, and a dark jacket, smiling.

Recovery and Appreciation
The release of the photo was accompanied by a message from the princess, thanking everyone for their support during her recovery. She also wished everyone a Happy Mother's Day. This is the first official image of Kate released by the royal family since her surgery.

"Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months," a message accompanying the photo that was said on X said.

"Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day," said the message, which was signed "C" for Catherine.

Speculation and Clarification
The photo release comes after speculation on social media about her absence from public life. Kensington Palace had previously stated that she would not return to public duties until after Easter and clarified that her surgery was unrelated to cancer. Kate's last public appearance was at the royal family's Christmas mass at Sandringham.

Kensington Palace had previously stated that Princess Kate would be "unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter" following her surgery. The palace also clarified that her surgery was not related to cancer.

Royal Family Health Updates
Kate's hospitalization coincided with King Charles's admission for surgery for a benign prostate condition. He was subsequently diagnosed with an unrelated cancer. Despite his diagnosis, the 75-year-old king continued to attend church services and hold his weekly audience with the prime minister, though he withdrew from other public duties during his treatment.

Privacy Concerns
Despite the release of the official photo, some media outlets, including the Daily Mail and The Sun, have chosen not to publish photos of Kate taken earlier in March near Windsor Castle. The princess, known for her dedication to royal duties, has been taking on more responsibilities alongside Prince William since Prince Harry and Meghan's move to the United States and Prince Andrew's withdrawal from public duties.
