The KCET 2025 results are out, and the next big step for students is the counselling process. Organised by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), this process decides which college and course you will get based on your preferences, rank, and eligibility.

Here’s a simple and clear guide to help you understand the KCET 2025 counselling process, from document verification to final seat allotment.

What to Do Before Counselling Starts

Before you fill in your college choices, you must go through document verification. Prepare all the required documents neatly in a folder. You will need:

  • KCET 2025 Admit Card
  • Class 10 & 12 Marksheets
  • Study Certificate
  • KCET Rank Card
  • Aadhar Card
  • Income & Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Kannada Medium/Rural Study Certificate (if needed)
  • NCC/Sports/Defence Certificate (if any)
Tip: Print your KCET 2025 application form and arrange all papers in the right order to avoid last-minute issues.

KCET 2025 Counselling: Step-by-Step

Stage 1: Document Verification
  • Visit the KEA verification centre with your documents.
  • Once verified, you will receive a verification slip with a secret login code.
Stage 2: Web Option Entry
  • Use the secret code to log in and start selecting your college and course preferences.
  • You can choose as many options as you want.
  • List them in your order of priority, check college cutoffs, location, and placements first.
Stage 3: Mock Allotment
  • KEA will release a mock seat allotment list based on your choices.
  • This helps you understand how options affect your allotment.
  • You can edit, rearrange, or add more options after this.
Stage 4: First Round Seat Allotment

Once the final result is out, you have four choices:
  • Choice 1: Accept and join the allotted college, exit counselling.
  • Choice 2: Hold the seat, pay the fee, but try for Round 2.
  • Choice 3: Not happy with the seat, try again in Round 2 without holding.
  • Choice 4: Exit the counselling process completely.

Round 2 and Extended Round

Round 2 is only for students who selected Choice 2 or 3.
  • In the Extended Round, everyone can edit or delete options.
  • If you get a seat here, you must join. If you don’t, your fee will not be refunded.
Tips for a Smooth KCET Counselling
  • Do your research: Don’t just go for famous colleges. Look at last year’s cutoffs, campus reviews, and placement records.
  • Stay updated: Check the KEA site daily for alerts.
  • Keep all documents ready: Missing even one can cause delays or rejection.
  • Plan your priorities: Think about location, affordability, and your career goals.
With the right preparation and smart choices, KCET 2025 counselling can help you get into the college that’s best for you. Good luck!
