KBC kid Ishit Bhatt’s rude behaviour controversy sparks debate on parenting. Watch viral video

The moment that started the debate
Bhatt caught viewers’ attention early in the episode when he told Amitabh Bachchan, “Mere ko rules pata hai isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna (I know the rules, so don't start explaining the rules to me right now.).” His assertive tone continued as he asked, “Arre option daalo (Come on, give me some options),” and later said, “Sir ek kya uss mein chaar lock lagado, lekin lock karo (Sir, not just one, put four locks on it, but do lock it).”When Bachchan asked a question related to the Ramayana, Bhatt asked for options and eventually gave an incorrect answer, leaving the show without any prize money.
Amitabh Bachchan’s response
Reacting to Bhatt’s approach, Amitabh Bachchan remarked, “Kabhi kabhi bachhe over confidence mein galti kar dete hai (Sometimes children make mistakes due to overconfidence).” The video clip of the interaction soon went viral, generating strong reactions across social media platforms.Social media reactions
The episode led to a flood of online responses. One user posted, “It's okay if your child has knowledge, but if he doesn't have manners or if he doesn’t know how to talk in front of elders he can never be successful. If I was in Amitabh Bachchan's place, I would slap him twice and then ask questions (sic).” Another wrote, “Perfect ending. Arrogance got schooled. Maybe now the parents will learn, raising a brat isn’t parenting, it’s public nuisance training. (sic).” A third simply commented, “Oversmart kid (sic).”While many criticised Bhatt’s behaviour, others defended him, saying the backlash was excessive for a child. Some also suggested that the episode could have been partly scripted to attract viewership.
Debate on parenting and manners erupt
The incident reignited public discussion on the link between knowledge and humility. Several users argued that academic confidence should be matched with respect for elders and proper manners, especially when children appear on national television. The debate extended to the responsibilities of parents and show producers, questioning whether enough guidance is provided to young participants before they go on air.
Chinmayi Sripaada defends the child
Playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada criticised the online trolling of Bhatt, describing the reactions as bullying. She posted on X, “Adults here on Twitter have been one of the most lousy, foul mouthed, abusive lot; none of these voices said a thing when kids died due to a cough syrup. But yeah pick on a kid. Says a LOT about the ecosystem. This entire lot is picking on one over excited kid - what a horrible bunch of bullies these have raised themselves to be (sic).”Her post drew attention to the harsh online environment and how adults often direct aggression toward children participating in reality television.
Broader questions on reality shows
The incident has also opened debate about the environment young contestants face on television. Viewers are questioning whether competitive formats like KBC put pressure on children, and if the show’s structure contributes to overconfidence or stress.
