Many citizens across the region hit by the tremors rushed out their homes into open areas as panic set in, but the doctors performing this potentially life saving surgery chose to persevere through as strong tremors were felt inside the operating theatre.
A video of the incident has garnered widescale interest. In the video, the medical staff can be seen performing the surgery as the tremors begin. Medical devices can be seen shaking as a result of the tremors and the woman is seen laying on the operating table. A few seconds in and the room goes dark as the power goes out. The medical staff in the room could be heard chanting prayers.

The strong tremors were felt in parts of north India and Pakistan. The earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan at around 10:20pm on Tuesday night.
Within minutes, "earthquake" became the top trending keyword on Twitter, with users sharing their how they felt the tremors. Several people in Delhi also shared videos from their homes, showing shaking ceiling fans and chandeliers.
