Karthi's Sardar eyeing Rs 100 cr box-office collection in second week

Sardar had a successful box-office run in its home market of Tamil Nadu in the first week. Strengthened by positive reviews and good word-of-mouth, the movie enters the second week on a stronger note.

Industry sources reported that the second-week screen count is rising and is expected to touch 500 screens, up from 380 in the opening week.

According to sources, the film grossed over Rs 1.9 crores on day 8, taking the cumulative domestic collection to a high of almost Rs 40 crores. Sardar is on a solid platform in its home state of Tamil Nadu, with collections of around Rs 30 crores in eight days.

The advance booking trends for the weekend look very positive, and the producers hope the film might cross the Rs 100 crore barrier at the box office by the end of the second week. In addition, the Telugu version of the film is also doing well and has grossed Rs 10 crore+ in the opening week.

Karthi played both the father and the son in the spy thriller.
