According to the Private Schools Association, it is ‘not a healthy development’ for students, and the government should continue with the NEP as it has already been implemented and make changes wherever necessary to the policy, reported news agencies.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah held a meeting with vice chancellors and experts on August 21 and further announced that a committee would be formed soon to create the Karnataka Education Policy, which would be implemented in the state in the next academic year.
Talking about the developments, Karnataka's Higher Education Minister MC Sudhakar said that students would get a three-year degree certificate and would not be promoted to the fourth year as the state has decided to scrap the NEP.
Meanwhile, several state BJP leaders, including former CM Basavaraj Bommai, CT Ravi, and Ashwath Narayan, among others, had criticised the government for taking steps to scrap the NEP.
