Bengaluru rain forecast today
For May 24, a yellow alert has been issued with the weather agency warning of partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers along with thunderstorms and lightning. Thunderstorms, lightning in Bengaluru likely
The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and lightning till May 25 in Bengaluru and the weather conditions are expected to improve from May 26 onwards. The city has been battering heavy rainfall for the past few days, triggering power outages, disruptions in the Metro services and multiple tree-fall incidents across several areas.Karnataka rain alert
Several districts of Karnataka, including Tumakuru, Hassan, Chitradurga and Koppal, are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the weekend. Coastal parts of the state may also witness intermittent showers, humid weather, and gusty winds.Meanwhile, interior regions could continue to experience warm daytime temperatures despite rainfall activity in nearby areas. The changing weather pattern may affect daily life and travel in some districts. Overall, Karnataka is expected to witness unstable yet relatively cooler pre-monsoon weather conditions in the coming days.
Apart from Bengaluru Rural, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of Tumakuru, Chikkaballapur Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, and Bidar districts. Other districts like Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Gadag and Koppal districts may receive moderate rainfall in the coming days.
Heavy rain forecast in these districts
On May 24, heavy showers are likely in Tumakuru, Hassan, Mysuru and Mandya, along with strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 kmph. Although rainfall activity is expected to reduce on May 25 and May 26, several interior parts of the state may continue to receive light to moderate rain.Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainfall is also likely in parts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Shivamogga and Kodagu over the next few days. However, hot and humid weather conditions are expected to continue, with no major change in temperatures likely.
The rainfall also disrupted power supply in several areas, with BESCOM officials attributing the outages to gusty winds and tree branches falling on power infrastructure. Many areas went without power overnight.
