Actor-comedian Kapil Sharma recently expressed his frustration with the increasing restrictions on language imposed by television channels.

In a recent conversation with Kareena Kapoor on her talk show, 'What Women Want,' he revealed that he was recently informed by his channel that he cannot use the word “paagal” on his show. While he did not understand the reason behind the ban initially, he was later told that using the term could offend actual people who are called by that name.

Sharma expressed his disappointment with the decision, saying that 'paagal' is a word commonly used in a playful manner between siblings and friends. He added that he feels like society is moving backward with such limitations on language.

Speaking about these limitations, he also recounts Javed Akhtar claiming in an interview that he was unable to script the scene in 'Sholay' where Dharmendra chats while hiding behind the idol of Lord Shiva since doing so would upset people.

Furthermore, Kapil Sharma expressed his concerns about the current state of comedy in India while acknowledging that society is evolving. He feels what used to be considered funny a decade ago is now deemed offensive.

In light of the fact that his own show, ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ has been called out for body shaming jokes in the past, he shared an example from his hometown, Amritsar, where it was common for the bride's side to tease the groom and make fun of him with names, which is now seen as body shaming.
