Six trainee constables seen in the viral reel.
A social media reel has landed six trainee constables in trouble at a police training centre in Rewa. The video, posted on February 25, featured the trainees in full uniform lip-syncing to playful lines suggesting that looks or clothes do not matter as long as one has a government job.

The reel quickly went viral, crossing 9,000 views, but instead of being praised, it drew criticism from social media users who questioned whether trainees, not yet fully inducted, should use the police uniform for entertainment.

Police warn against misuse of uniform online

Officials stated the video violated training guidelines, which explicitly bar uniformed personnel from creating public content unrelated to official duties. The police uniform, they emphasized, symbolizes discipline and public trust, not a prop for social media content.

The trainees, dressed in full uniform, posted a video on Feb 25 lip-syncing to cheeky lines: "Shakal achchi nahi hai to kya hua, sarkari naukri to hai na" and "... kapde nahi hai to kya hua, vardi to hai na." Roughly translated, the lines suggest that looks or clothes don't matter as long as one has a government job - and the uniform to go with it.

"As soon as it came into our notice, show-cause notices were issued to all six trainee constables. There were recruitment schedules for the past two days. As soon as replies are received, further course of action will be decided on the basis of the replies. Sharing reels on social media is prohibited," SP, Police Training Institute, Rewa, Surendra Kumar Jain told TOI.

Backlash on social media

The reel’s tone and content were deemed inconsistent with the image expected of the police, prompting users and authorities alike to caution against trivializing official attire.
