Rishab Shetty-starrer 'Kantara' is all set to get a prequel as the producer for the film Vijay Kiragandur has confirmed the news, according to reports.

Rishab Shetty's directorial Kantara which was released last year turned out to be a massive hit among audiences and critics. Since the movie was super hit, fans were waiting for the sequel of the movie. And now, to mark an end to fans' curiosity, the movie is set to get its prequel.
The series' upcoming instalment won't progress the plot, instead exploring the origins of the mythology. Vijay Kiragandur, the producer and the owner of Hombale Films, provided the deadline with a confirmation and said Rishab is working on the story and is currently visiting the forests of coastal Karnataka in order to conduct the research. Rishab has been accompanied by his fellow writing associates for two months.

Shetty even disclosed the plan when the movie is set to hit theatres. "We want to give the film a pan-Indian release in April or May next year," he told Deadline. He is planning to begin with the shoot in June as a major part of the shoot requires rainy season, as per the report.
Recently, Rishab Shetty attended the Bhoota Kola festival, where his film gained massive appreciation. The festival took place in coastal Karnataka, and also took the blessings and thank the Gods for the success of his film. Kantara earned a whopping amount of Rs 400 crores worldwide after its release.
The movie was set in coastal Karnataka and emphasised the festival called Bhoota Kola and the Daiva Nartakas, which is a main part of Karnataka’s folklore and mythology. After the movie came out, the festival and the ritual gained a lot of national attention. Rishabh along with co-star Sapthami Gowda was seen visiting the festival and meeting one of the Daiva Nartakas in a video shared by the movie's producers, Hombale Films.
