Kanpur, Lucknow, Ghaziabad weather today: Uttar Pradesh to receive rainfall this week, IMD issues ‘orange’ alert for thunderstorms and hail for these UP cities

Kanpur woke up to clear skies on Monday morning, though cold winds added a sharp chill to the air. Rain is likely over the next 24 hours, with cloudy conditions expected to persist through the day.

On Sunday, the minimum temperature fell by 0.9°C over the previous 24 hours to 8.8°C, which was 0.8°C above normal. The maximum temperature was recorded at 22.6°C, about 0.7°C above the seasonal average.

Meteorologist Dr. SN Sunil Pandey told Bhaskar a fresh western disturbance has become active, leading to cloudy skies both during the day and at night. Wind speeds are expected to remain low in Kanpur, the IMD official said, adding that temperatures will dip once the western disturbance moves ahead. Between February 10 and 15, temperatures are likely to fluctuate by 2–3°C.


Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow is likely to witness mainly clear sky which might later become cloudy with the possibility of very light rain towards night. Dense fog is likely during morning hours in Lucknow today. The maximum & minimum temperature will be around 26 & 13 degrees Celsius, respectively.'

Uttar Pradesh weather: Hail, thunderstorms alert issued

Uttar Pradesh is likely to see a wetter February, with the central and eastern parts of the state witnessing rainfall Monday. On Sunday too, several areas of western Uttar Pradesh saw rainfall.

An orange alert warning for thunderstorms, accompanied with lightning and gusty winds with a speed of 40-50 kmph has been issued for parts of Western and Eastern Uttar Pradesh for February 3, as per IMD. Along with this, there is an orange warning for “hailstorm” also in parts of Western Uttar Pradesh for Monday.

Weather in Meerut, Ghaziabad today

Meerut and Ghaziabad: Fog and mist likely, moving northwards. A dense fog alert has been issued for Muzaffarnagar. Temperatures expected: min 11°C, max 22°C.

Mathura and Vrindavan: Minimum temperature at 10°C, maximum around 23°C. Only general fog and mist predicted.

Prayagraj: Rain likely, accompanied by dense fog and lightning warning. Minimum temperature may drop to 9°C.

Varanasi: Rain expected with partly cloudy skies. Occasional thunderstorms possible; lightning alert in effect.

Gorakhpur: Dense fog alert issued. Temperatures expected: min 11°C, max 24°C.
