A deeply disturbing case has emerged from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a 48-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 11-year-old twin daughters inside their apartment. Police said the accused, identified as Shashi Ranjan Mishra, a medical representative, was taken into custody from the family home shortly after the incident came to light.

Kanpur Crime News: Twin Sisters Found Dead in Apartment

According to police officials, a PCR call was received around 4.30 am reporting the deaths of two minor girls at a residential flat in Kidwai Nagar’s Trimoorti Apartment in the Naubasta area.

When police reached the scene, both children were found dead inside the house, while the accused father was still present at the location. The bodies were later sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic teams collected evidence from the apartment.


Uttar Pradesh Murder Case: Accused Father Detained and Questioned

Police confirmed that the accused has been detained and is being interrogated. Officials said that, prima facie, the man appeared to be mentally disturbed, though the exact motive behind the killings is still under investigation.

The weapon allegedly used in the crime has been recovered, and CCTV footage from the residence is being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Police are also examining whether the accused had personal suspicions and marital discord, alongside other possible psychological and domestic factors.

Family Background and Domestic Dispute Details

The accused lived in Kanpur with his wife, originally from West Bengal, their twin daughters, and a six-year-old son. His wife later told police that he had been struggling with emotional distress following his mother’s death and had shown signs of instability.

She also alleged that their relationship had been strained in recent years, with claims of domestic conflict and behavioural changes in her husband. Police, however, have stated that all claims are being verified as part of the ongoing investigation.

Alleged Confession and Sleeping Pills Angle Under Probe

During questioning, police said the accused allegedly admitted to mixing sleeping pills in the children’s food before attacking them. However, officials have stressed that these statements are being independently verified as part of the investigation.

Investigators are also exploring possible psychological issues and personal stress factors that may have contributed to the incident.

Kanpur Police Investigation Continues

A case has been registered at Naubasta police station based on the complaint of the wife. Senior officers, including the Commissioner of Police, confirmed that multiple teams are working on the case, and forensic analysis is underway.

Police have stated that the motive remains unclear and the investigation is continuing from all possible angles, including mental health assessment and family dynamics.
