Kannada film ‘Head Bush’ lands in trouble for hurting religious sentiments: Latest developments

In a scene from Dhananjaya's Head Bush, a character describes another character "Dharmaraya karaga" as meaningless, which has led to a controversy, and many have raised objections for hurting religious sentiments in the film.

Actor Dhananjaya's Head Bush, released on October 21, has drawn criticism from some groups who claim it "hurts religious sensitivities." The chariot, known as a karaga in Kannada, that is depicted in the film, according to Sathish, a trustee of the Sree Dharmaraya Swamy Temple in Bengaluru, does not actually belong to their temple.

He added that it has hurt the community's sentiments when a character calls it "jijubi" (useless). Shoonya is the director of the crime drama Head Bush.


How did Head Bush get into trouble?
Because of a scene that purportedly criticises Veeragase, a Karnataka regional dancing style, Head Bush has courted criticism. In one scene, a character describes the Dharmaraya chariot as being useless.

The community is angered by the sequence, according to Sathish, a trustee for the Dharmaraya temple, who pleaded with the film's creators to remove the scene from the flick. He also said that the chariot seen in the film is not anything like that which exists in reality.

He further stated that it is a good movie, but the chariot (Karaga) is not from the Dharmaraya temple, despite the movie's assertion to the contrary. They had displayed the chariot on a set. Therefore, those who are unaware of it might assume that the genuine chariot resembles the one depicted in the film. They also refer to it as Tiglarpet Dharmaraya Temple and comment that it is Hesarghatta's chariot. In order to represent the chariot, the filmmakers used a different one. The chariot is referred to as jijubi karaga in another scene (useless chariot). It has become a controversial issue among many. In another scene in the film, some characters refer to their priest, who had been pulling the chariot for 18 years, by his individual name. According to some people, it was hurtful.

Sathish had even offered to give the filmmakers access to authentic chariot footage.
