Kannada actor Chetan Kumar Ahimsa's OCI cancelled

Kannada film actor and activist Chetan Kumar alias Chetan Ahimsa's Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status has been cancelled, the actor has claimed. Kumar has claimed that he had received a letter which directed him to submit his OCI card at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office. Kumar has said that he was exploring legal avenues and may approach the Karnataka High Court challenging the order, according to reports.

This came after the actor was arrested by Bengaluru police for his tweet which claimed the "Hindutva is built on lies".




"Hindutva is built on LIES. Savarkar: Indian ‘nation’ began when Rama defeated Ravana & returned to Ayodhya —> a lie. 1992: Babri Masjid is ‘birthplace of Rama’ —> a lie 2023: Urigowda-Nanjegowda are ‘killers’ of Tipu—> a lie. Hindutva can be defeated by TRUTH—> truth is EQUALITY," Chetan Kumar Ahimsa posted on March 20.

Bajrang Dal then filed a complaint against Kumar and an FIR was registered. However, this was not the actor's first encounter with the law. Earlier in 2022, the actor was arrested for an objectionable tweet pertaining to Karnataka High Court Judge who was then part of a bench that was hearing petitions challenging the ban on hijab in educational institutions.
