The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday censured Kangana Ranaut following her controversial statement on the farmers' protest, triggering a meme fest on social media.

"The statement made by BJP MP Kangana Ranaut in the context of the farmers' movement does not reflect the party's opinion. The Bharatiya Janata Party expresses its disagreement with the statement made by Kangana Ranaut," the BJP said in an official statement.

Ranaut is neither permitted nor authorized to speak on the party's policy issues, the statement clarified.


"Kangana Ranaut has been directed by the Bharatiya Janata Party not to make any such statements in the future," the party added.

"The Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to the principles of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas' and to maintaining social harmony," it further stated.

In an interview, Kangana Ranaut, BJP MP from Mandi, had claimed that 'Bangladesh-like anarchy' could have unfolded in India during the farmers' protests.

"Bangladesh-like anarchy could have happened in India in the name of the farmers' protest. Outside forces are planning to destroy us with the help of insiders. If it hadn't been for the foresight of our leadership, they would have succeeded," Ranaut said in the interview.
