Kangana Ranaut calls Hanuman Ansh film a ‘satsang’, director Vishal Chaturvedi hints at sequel

Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has praised Hanuman Ansh, calling the devotional drama “not a movie” but a “satsang”, as the film continues its strong theatrical run and director Vishal Chaturvedi confirms plans to take the story forward. Released on August 7, the film has crossed the Rs 50 crore mark in India, while its makers had already planned the spiritual drama as part of a trilogy.

Ranaut shared her reaction on Instagram Stories on September 2, urging followers to watch the film. She wrote, “#Hanumanansh is not a movie it's a satsang, beautifully woven short stories of people who had first hand experience of #neemkaroribaba. Skip your therapy and go watch it.”

Her remarks came as Hanuman Ansh continued to gain momentum at the box office despite opening with just Rs 10 lakh on August 7. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the film collected an estimated Rs 8.50 crore nett in India on its 26th day, taking its total India nett collection to Rs 54.13 crore and India gross collection to Rs 63.82 crore.

Hanuman Ansh sees unusual box-office growth

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh stars Shobinaw Satyaa as Neem Karoli Baba and centres on faith, devotion and the experiences of people who have been spiritually connected to the revered figure.

The film has recorded a sharp rise in collections after its modest opening. Its fourth week proved particularly strong, with earnings of Rs 6.25 crore on Friday, Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 12.75 crore on Sunday. The film then collected Rs 5.50 crore on Monday and Rs 8.50 crore on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Hanuman Ansh also recorded a higher collection than Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups, which earned Rs 8.20 crore on its seventh day. The two films differ significantly in scale and release dynamics, but the comparison highlights the devotional film’s unexpected theatrical trajectory.

Made on a reported budget of around Rs 1.8 crore, Hanuman Ansh has emerged as a sleeper hit, with audience word of mouth helping sustain its run.

Vishal Chaturvedi hints at Hanuman Ansh 2

The success of the first film has now coincided with plans for a second instalment. During a recent interaction with audiences at a multiplex in Agra, Chaturvedi discussed what the next chapter could explore.

According to Hindustan Times, the filmmaker said the sequel would cover important phases of Neem Karoli Baba’s life, beginning with his birthplace Firozabad before moving to Agra, Mathura and other locations associated with his spiritual journey.

The possibility of another film was also indicated in the closing moments of Hanuman Ansh, where a slate suggested that more chapters of Neem Karoli Baba’s story remained.

Sequel was planned as part of a trilogy

The proposed second instalment is not solely a response to the film’s box-office performance. When the project was announced on February 20, 2026, the makers had already envisioned Hanuman Ansh as part of a trilogy.

The spiritual franchise is inspired by Vishal Chaturvedi’s book Divine Detour, with Shobhinaw Satyaa portraying Neem Karoli Baba. With the director now discussing the next chapter, the planned sequel could expand the story across locations linked to the spiritual leader and explore further stages of his life.
