Kane Williamson makes history, overtakes Ross Taylor to become New Zealand's highest Test run-scorer
Kane Williamson overtook his former teammate and one of New Zealand's best, Ross Taylor, to become the country's all-time leading Test run-scorer.

Kane Williamson returned to form with a record-breaking century to lead New Zealand's comeback against England on Day 4 of the second Test. Williamson, who has struggled for runs, played a gutsy knock to lift New Zealand from a position of survival to dominance in the series decider against the English Test team.
In the Wellington Test, Williamson needed 33 runs to overtake Taylor. He only scored four runs in the first two innings. Taylor announced his retirement from international cricket last year after playing 112 Tests for his country.
Congratulations Kane for becoming NZ’s highest Test run-scorer. This achievement is a testament to your hard work and dedication to Test Cricket, of which I was privy to for a number of years. Here’s to many more 🍷

Taylor said this accomplishment is a testament to Williamson’s hard work and his dedication to Test Cricket. Williamson reached the milestone in his 92nd Test and 161st innings, far outpacing Taylor's 112 Tests and 196 innings. Williamson is ranked 38th all-time in Tests.
