'Kabzaa', the ambitious pan-Indian film directed by R Chandru, starring Upendra, is due to open in theatres across India this year on March 17. 'Kabzaa', billed as a gangster period drama set between 1940 and 1980, focuses on an underworld don played by Upendra. The film, which also stars Sudeep and Shriya Saran, was shot entirely on set in Bengaluru and Hyderabad.


The trailer, which was published a day before Upendra's birthday, revealed that the historical picture covers the growth of criminals in India from the 1940s to the 1980s. The film centres around the son of a freedom warrior who becomes entangled in the mafia world. Following the recent back-to-back triumphs of 'KGF 2', '777 Charlie,' 'Vikrant Rona,' and 'Kantara,' the bar for this action entertainment from the Kannada Film industry has been upped.


Talking about his forthcoming movie Chandru stated that the film took three years in making. Chandru is also convinced that it will receive the same enthusiasm in other languages as in Kannada.

'Kabzaa' will be edited by Mahesh Reddy and will include music by Ravi Basur and cinematography by AJ Shetty. The stunt choreography is by Ravi Varma, Vijay, and Vikram Mor, and the film will be presented by MTB Nagaraj, who will be funded by Chandru under his Sri Siddeshwara Enterprises label in partnership with Alankar Pandian.


'Kabzaa' will be released in several languages and star actors such as Anoop Revanna, Pramod Shetty, Murali Sharma, Jagapathi Babu, Danish Akthar Saifi, Pradeep Rawat, Kabir Duhan Singh Jayaprakash, and Kota Srinivas will appear in significant roles.
