The pan-India action film Kabzaa, starring Upendra Rao and Kiccha Sudeep, failed to attract audiences in theaters and had a poor performance at the box office. The film was released last week on Friday and competed against Bollywood films, including Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway and Zwigato.

Directed by R Chandru, the film Kabzaa also had a dry run at the box office, collecting only around Rs 2.5 crore across five languages on Day 5. The language-wise breakup of Kabzaa's box office collections showed that it collected Rs 0.69 crore in Tamil, Rs 2.64 crore in Telugu, Rs 3.3 crore in Hindi, Rs 20.36 crore in Kannada, and Rs 0.2 crore in Malayalam. The total box office collection in India was approximately Rs 27.19 crore.

In a recent interview, R Chandru, the director of Kabzaa, reflected on his difficult journey as a director. He remembers being turned down for a role in a Telugu movie called "Krishnamma Kalipindi Iddarini" a few years ago because he dared to take a risk. Despite being a Kannada director, he wanted to mount the film on a large scale but was offered a budget of only Rs. 3 crores. However, he was able to produce a quality movie on a shoestring budget, and it even took home the Best Romantic Feature prize at the Jaipur International Film Festival.

After that experience, Chandru wanted to make a film with Allu Arjun and told someone the story. However, he was turned down because he was a Kannada director. This rejection was painful for him, but he found support in the KGF team, who had done something extraordinary in Kannada cinema. Chandru appreciated the KGF team and decided that no matter what people say, he would continue to make films and help Kannada cinema grow stronger.
