K-pop group Exo's member Kai to join army soon. See when

Exo's member Kai is scheduled to enlist for the mandatory military service soon. SM Entertainment, which is the management company for K-pop group EXO, announced on Wednesday that its member Kai, whose real name is Kim Jong-in, is going to join the Army on May 11.

SM Entertainment said that it is going to respect Kai’s decision to enter the armed forces.

The exact location and time of enlistment of Kai will not be revealed, stated the management company. Once the details are sorted out, the company will inform fans about the upcoming album of Exo.


On the official fan community page, SM Entertainment, as per South Korean online portal Naver, announced, "Hello. This is SM Entertainment. We have come to relay sudden news to fans regarding Kai’s military service. Kai was preparing for EXO’s comeback scheduled for this year, but due to a recent change in regulations of the Military Manpower Administration, he is set to enter the army recruit training center on May 11 where he will receive basic military training, and he will then serve as a public service worker."

"In respect of Kai’s intention to enlist quietly, his enlistment location and time will not be revealed, and there will be no special event on the day of, so we ask for the understanding of fans. Regarding the plans for EXO’s album, we will inform you once the details are sorted out. Thank you," it added.







The popular K-pop star’s fans were shocked to hear the news as they were expecting the comeback of the group this year. “Kim Kai's military enlistment hits different because I can't imagine exo updates without him... he was there when exo was still on hiatus, he always represents the group, he managed to gave us so much contents when we all miss the group but now…(sic),” a fan said while reacting to the news.
