A purported viral video shows two large potholes on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.
Several users on X shared videos showing the potholes and questioned the quality of construction.
"Rs 12,000 crore. 79 days. That's all it took. Just 79 days after its inauguration by PM Narendra Modi on April 14, the world-class Delhi–Dehradun Expressway has reportedly developed potholes with the onset of the monsoon, damaging vehicles and raising serious questions about construction quality and accountability," one user wrote while sharing the video.
Another user posted, "This is its current state, with huge potholes all over it. Many vehicles allegedly met with accidents too. Imagine paying Rs 650 as toll tax while buying 20% ethanol petrol at Rs 110, yet there is no guarantee of life."
Meanwhile, the Congress on Thursday alleged that corruption in infrastructure projects under the Narendra Modi government was leading to the deterioration of public assets, citing the condition of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway.
In a post on X, the party claimed that the expressway, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 14, 2026, had developed massive potholes within two months of opening.
"Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway on April 14, 2026. But just two months later, massive potholes appeared on this expressway, which was built at a cost of Rs 12,000 crore. This shows that rampant corruption and embezzlement of funds took place in the construction of this expressway," the Congress said.
The party further alleged that the issue was not an isolated incident and claimed infrastructure projects across the country were deteriorating.
"This is not the first such case; across the country, whether it's bridges or roads, highways or water tanks, railway stations or airport roofs—infrastructure is collapsing everywhere," it said.
Targeting the Centre, the Congress added, "All in all, the matter is clear: the Modi government is fatal for the country and the people."
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the 213-km, six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor on April 14. Developed at a cost of over Rs 12,000 crore, the corridor passes through Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and includes features aimed at reducing human-animal conflict.
During the inauguration, the Prime Minister said the expressway would significantly reduce travel time and transportation costs, resulting in fuel savings and lower freight charges.
"This is not just a road; it opens new avenues for trade, industry, warehousing and logistics across the entire region," PM Modi had said.
