The two planets appeared to be about "three fists" apart from each other. But, the space between them has begun to shrink every night. By February 20, the gap between the two planets had shrunk to a little over nine degrees. By February 27, the difference will have shrunk to only 2.3 degrees.
On March 1, the planets will be only 0.52 degrees apart. Jupiter will be visible at magnitude -2.1, while Venus will be seen at magnitude -4.0.
Not only will these planets be meeting, but the moon will also be lustrous during this week. According to the aforementioned astronomy website, the two brightest planets will be vying for attention in this month's evening sky, but the moon will lend its own distinct lustre to this array on the evenings of February 21 and 22.
Stargazers can view a sliver of a waxing crescent moon around one hour after sunset by looking low towards the west-southwest horizon.
