Before the 95th Academy Awards nominations are announced on January 24, RRR hopes to be considered in various categories, including Best Original Song. Now, actor Jr NTR has been named one of the frontrunners in the Best Actor category by a prominent American magazine.

USA Today – a prominent US magazine has stated that Jr NTR deserves an Oscar nomination for his role as Komaram Bheem in RRR.

The magazine wrote that the performance of Jr NTR in the film must have been noticed by the Academy adding that it was an example of a brilliant performance that deserved an Oscar nomination in the Best Actor category.

“Because the two Indian mega-stars in this action-packed musical adventure are what makes "RRR" such an audience-friendly powerhouse," wrote Brian Truitt, the writer of the article. He wrote, “A British army soldier(Ram Charan) and a loyal warrior (Jr NTR) become friends, but heads as enemies, and then reunite as a fighting force, complete with an all-time bromance and an amazing dance-off.” “But we have to choose, the charismatic Jr NTR has the edge for commanding an army of wild animals while juggling a motorcycle with ease,” Truitt further wrote.

With Jr NTR at the top of the list, other actors who deserve a nomination include Tom Cruise, Paul Dano, Mia Goth, Paul Mescal, and Zoe Kravitz.

In another article for USA Today, Truitt also predicted that RRR might receive nominations for best director and best picture at the 2023 Oscars. The movie's featured song, Naatu Naatu, recently took home the Golden Globe for best original song.
