In a shocking turn of events, a joyride turned to a nightmare for fairgoers in Punjab's Mohali after a amusement ride broke mid-air, crashing down to the ground.

Nearly 50 people were on the ride when it snapped while 50 feet up in the air, at least five people have been injured in the incident, with none of them in serious conditions.

People present at the fair are alleging mismanagement, adding that there were no safety measures taken.

"Their private bouncers came nearly 20 minutes late. There was a lady who was their head. She said that nobody is dead. Who will take responsibility for the incident? How is this business running without the availability of any medical aid? The public is being stopped by the police," alleged one fairgoer, according to ANI.

While the fair was originally supposed to close out on September 4, reports suggest there was an extension provided for September 11.
